Just 1 day after coming back from our camping trip to Paul Lake, we were rudely reminded of the Okanagan Mountain Park firestorm from 2 years ago.

The feelings that an interface fire can evoke are quite strong. The Rose Valley fire started on Saturday evening and lasted through to early Monday. We were on evacuation alert on Saturday night, and had packed up the van to evacuate, but the final evacuation order never came. (Many of the streets above ours were evacuated until Sunday afternoon.) While it now seems like a small fire compared to what Kelowna experienced 2 years ago, it is hard to determine the size of the fire late at night. At the time, it felt just as serious and just as big as the Okanagan Mountain Park firestorm.

I did not take any of these pictures. They were copied from Kelowna's local news website.
