April showers bring May flowers?

Quite a few flowering bushes and trees in the yard. Crab apples, cherries, various decorative trees.

This one in particular is a mystery. I purchased it about 15 years ago. For maybe the first 12 years, it did absolutey nothing. Barely grew more than a tiny branch every year, and just a few leaves. On numerous occasions I came very close to mowing it down or ripping it out because it obviously wasn't doing well. Then a couple of years ago, it finally decided to wake up, and is now an explosion of flowers.

And of course my lilac bush which is getting quite big. A large branch of it died and broke off last year, but it is starting to fill out again. The flowers on this bush smell amazing!
