This deck project started back in April. At the time, all I did was get rid of the old small deck we had.

Then everything got put on hold until July, at which time there was a mad flurry of activity before we left on our 1-month road trip.

Now that we're back, construction has resumed. I would like this to be (mostly) finished before it snows!

• I braced the 6'x6' stairs landing -- the whole thing is rock solid!
• the 2"x4" beams and joists were discarded, and instead I built new 2"x6" beams and joists
• I thought about using some latice to cover the sides of the landing, but I don't like how it looks
• the 40' long header has been put back in place
• I spent Labour Day weekend and the following few worknights putting down the tongue-and-groove deck flooring (what a difference it makes once the floor is in place!)
• the 1"x2" drip trim has been installed (look at what I built to ensure everything was cut straight!)
• Let there be light! I've installed a flood light and several pot lights under the deck
• installing the soffit isn't complicated but is taking longer than I'd hoped
• deck vinyl is installed; took them 1 day to sand the deck, install the flashing, and fill in the cracks, 1 day to install the vinyl, and they came back the 3rd day to do the seams
• I ordered a slide, but looks like I have a lot of work before me to get this mounted correctly to the deck
