I've begun a little project in the basement for the winter months. The first part is to convert this wasted 4'x5' space in the corner of the laundry room into a usable storage closet.

(I forgot to take a picture before I started, but these two pictures #1 and #2 taken in August 2001 show what it looked like before the renovations.)

Here is what I've done:

• drawn up some elaborate plans (2004-Jan-05)
• Troy came over a few nights to help me get started (2004-Jan-06)
• I installed a motion detector instead of a light switch (2004-Jan-07)
• then came the drywall (looking in, looking out) (2004-Jan-11)

I figured that while I'm doing renovations, I may as well do the entire room... (Can you tell where this is going?!) Here is what I did:

• drew up even move elaborate plans (for phase #2) (2004-Feb-08)
• removed all of the carpet and the linolium (#1, #2) (2004-Feb-08)
• started working on the 2nd frame (2004-Feb-09)
• drywall is done (2004-Feb-22)
• March was spent mudding and sanding (oh, this is a terrible and dirty job!) (2004-Mar-21)
• mudding is done (2004-Apr-02)
• next we prime and paint (2004-Apr-10)
• then come the cabinets (2004-Apr-23)
• I purchased a small wet saw and I've started working on the tiles (2004-Jul-04)
• the last tile was placed tonight (2004-Jul-22)

Here we are 6 months later... Though, to be fair, there were long periods of time when no work was being done. Most notably, leading up to and immediately following the birth of our son.
