CHARLES A. NEWELL, JR.

Charles A. Newell, Jr., age 76 of Greenacres, Fla. and formerly of Cooperstown, N.Y. passed away Wednesday, June 9, 1999. Mr. Newell served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a former member of the Civil Defense in Cooperstown and was a volunteer fireman at many communities in the Cooperstown area, a member of the Telephone Pioneers & many civic organizations. An avid ham radio operator, his call letters were K2GNZ, he was a member of PBRA, WPBARC, ARES & RACES. He was also Past Pres. of the Amateur Radio Club of the V.A. Medical Center. He was pre deceased by a brother, Donald.

Survivors include: wife, Patricia Lennebecker Newell; son, Charles Newell, III; daughter, Darshan Fresco; brother, Roger Newell; 4 sisters: Imy Carter, Noreen Newell, Billie Williams & Marge Strait: 4 Grandchildren; Kathie, Robert, Kira & Kaleena.

Memorial Services will be held 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 14, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Chapel, Riviera Bch, Fla. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the V.A. Me. Cntr. or the Am. Heart Fund.
