We drove about 6 hours early Saturday morning to get to
Rosebery Campground, on the shores of Wilson Creek
just outside of New Denver. (Click on the
map; Rosebery is on Hwy #6 between Nakusp and Castlegar.) We visited
Slocan, an old "ghost town" (or rather
the remains of an old ghost town) from BC's silver
rush (late 1800's), and we also saw parts of the last remaining
Japanese-Canadian internment camp from the
1940's during WWII.
On Sunday afternoon, we followed the dirt access
road to go see Kokanee Glacier. However, I managed to get the car stuck in
the mud (image #1, image
#2) near KM 11. We never did make it to the parking lot at KM 14. I think
it took us almost 2 hours to get out of the mud...
